Your really going to have to tell us more on your setup as we can't tell whats going wrong from pinging.

well, i want to have a small web/ftp server behind my cablemodem and router. The SME is setup with a static lanip, gateway and dns:
192.168.1.110
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1
192.168.1.1
very siple, although i cannot ping nor download anything from outside my Lan. Inside everything works ok
everything is running on a via epia with integrated VIA VT6103 10/100 Base-T Ethernet

Hmm.. server only behind a router...
Did you put that dns address in on the "Corporate DNS server address" page?
Try leaving that blank.
Did you do the internet test from the server-console ?

i disabled the onboard Lan, and added another card, reinstalled, now its seems to work
yes, i entered 192.168.1.1 in the dns, as i always do
i haven't done the internettest, but dns resolving is ok, as i posted above, but after that nothing

I would remove the dns address from sme then look for a router issue with maybe icmp packets unless you have another computer on your lan that can ping outside ok.

as i said, all other computers work fine
i changed the nic to a realtek chipset, now its working fine. Guess theres no good support for the via ethernet nic
