Error: failure: repodata/primary.xml.gz from smeupdates: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.
Been getting this error for a little while now, I thought there might have been problems on the other end so I left it for a while, now I'm wondering if I should worry, as the problem hasn't fix it's self.
I have no idea what's causing this, any help appreciated.
I'm also having this problem: http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=34679.0
(thought you better know incase they were related).
-
The other problem mentioned above (at the base of my last post) is now fixed. But it seems this was not related, so I'm still getting the error mentioned above.
-
Maybe a server problem?
There was a post about a updated yum in smeserver-testing.
yum --enablerepo=smeupdates-testing update smeserver-yum
"]Hi everyone,
I've pushed a new version of smeserver-yum to smeupdates-testing. Please give it a run and raise bugs for any issues you find.
This includes Federico Simoncelli's yum plugin from bug 59 which runs yum in the background and updates the status in the panel. Many thanks Federico.
If you'd like to give it a good run, try a test from a fresh 7.0 box:
- Install 7.0
- Enable the smeupdates-testing repository
- Update the smeserver-yum update (only)
- Install all of the updates
Here's the changelog for the recent changes:
* Fri Nov 16 2006 Gordon Rowell <gordonr@gormand.com.au> 1.2.0-15
- Add dependency on yum-plugin-fastestmirror [SME: 1163]
- Alpha sort dependencies
* Fri Nov 16 2006 Gordon Rowell <gordonr@gormand.com.au> 1.2.0-14

* Fri Nov 16 2006 Gordon Rowell <gordonr@gormand.com.au> 1.2.0-12
- Re-add post-upgrade handling [SME: 2071]

- Lower refresh to 3 seconds from 10
* Thu Nov 16 2006 Gordon Rowell <gordonr@gormand.com.au> 1.2.0-11

- Explicitly unset reposdir so we ignore the CentOS repo files [SME: 1905]
Thanks,

Is it wise for me to enable the SME-Testing updates on a production server?
-
Maybe it's wise to enable sme updates testing rep to just see what is in the pipeline but on a production server i would only bear with the stable branch.
-
did yum clean all
then yum update
downloaded everything fine but when installing kernel and kernel-smp got the errors:
mdadm: only specify super-minor once - super-minor = 2 ignored
mdadm: only specify super-minor once - super-minor = 1 ignored
same message for both kernel and kernel-smp
now unable to ssh to server or access server-manager
please advise[/quote]
-
now unable to ssh to server or access server-manager
Server-manager via server-console? Is that working?
Is remote access enabled in server manager?
-
Hi William - (is that what people call you, or is it Bill or similar?)
SSH from LAN was enabled pre-update. Server-manager from server-console?? Sorry - total noob. Is that where you log on at actual PC as admin? At work at present so cant try that for another 6 hours.
Appreciate your help lots
Mark
-
I don't respond to Bill.
Is that where you log on at actual PC as admin?
Yes. There will then be an option to access server manager.
Oh, did you do the SME two-step tango after the yum update?
signal-event post-upgrade
signal-event reboot
-
Yes, did post-install and reboot. I'll check out server-manager from server box when I get home.
-
Ah. Everything working now. Maybe the server just needed a lie-down after the update??! What was the mdadm: only specify super-minor etc. all about?
Sorry to trouble you William & thanks for the help
-
What was the mdadm: only specify super-minor etc. all about?
I don't know. I see it here too and I ignore it. Ignorance is bliss.
I should do some reading about it.
-
Sorry, I never got back to you on this one... I've been extremely snowed under..
I did a "yum clean all" (just to be safe an clean up first)
then I did what you said and this is what I got.
[root@box1 ~]# yum --enablerepo=smeupdates-testing update smeserver-yum

Hmm..
Searching google for 'yum metadata' returns some possible fixes.
Appears to be the smeupdates repo giving you trouble.... try...
yum --disablerepo=* --enablerepo=smeupdates-testing update smeserver-yum
-
Willian_syd,
Once again... I think you've done it!
I ran the command, it updated, then I did the reboot as it told me, and then I ran the update and there was around about 50 updates waiting! so I ran them and it seems like it all worked.
I came across the error mentioned above by Mark F, but it didn't seem to cause any problems that I can see.
I also had lines and lines of this:

Probably not a problem, those error messages are probably from the server-manager template expansion. The reason is probably one of the contribs you installed, whit a server-manager panel. Someone probably did some sloppy programming causing the template parser to have problems with values it's expecting whilst not being provided.
-
Ok, thanks.
-
and then I ran the update
opps.. hope that was just a 'yum update' that you did.
FormMagick is used to give you the nice server-manager screens. You might want to step through each one to make sure they display ok.
At the end of the day.. It should just work. Maybe you want to check out Bugzilla for any FormMagick problems.

Yeah. that's the one.
I've been through and havn't run into any problems in the server manager yet, I'll let you know if I do.
Thanks.
