I have been using SME 5.0.3, for a couple of weeks, without any problems.
Recently I put another HD in the box, copied data on to it, and everything was fine for about a week.
I changed the moun point of the new HD to /home/e-smith, copied what was there to the new HD, changed fstab, and everything wored on reboot.
A week or so later I did a ls in /home/e-smith/files
and go
users - not a file or directory
somthing else - not a file or directory
and then the rest of the ls was fine.
I have run fsck.ext2 over the hd after unmounting it ..
It had problems with inodes being the wrong value, something about dtime, being somewhere it shouldn't
My Question is: is there any way to save the data, and is there a good hd maintenance program to warn of this in the future?
I am planning on using this server as a central data point, which I can add a tape backup solution.. any suggestions?
Thanks.
