Title: Web Hosting for a Week

HI All,

 I got SME 7.0 and hosting 5 domains ( web + mail) so i need to upgrade to ADSL 2 and down time is 5 days ( change over)

But i can't wait 5 days so tell me the best option for me to do .

Ask your friend with broadband connection to keep the box for five days.

Maybe the new provider can host the site for you during the migration.

Hi,

  Ok so need to be Static IP isn't it? I need to change all the DNS ?

Best practice is to host it somewhere else first. See if it works, using for instance the ip-number or hostname of the temporary location. Update your DNS records, wait a few days to let DNS sync, bring your server down, upgrade your line, bring your server back online, verify that it is there using it's ip-number or hostname change your dns settings (wait a few days again until you see traffic coming in on your own server again) and close down the temporary box.

Static IP is recommended, but you can get by temporarily with dynamic IP if your DNS provider supports it. Many do.
