Title: FTP Performance from server
Post by: slerickson01 on December 19, 2006, 04:12:39 AM
Is there a restriction on the bandwidth used by the ftp server. I've setup a box to host some large files for download. My upload speed on a cable network is 256k.  I get fast speeds on my lan downloading off the ftp but only about 30k over the Internet. I get great speed from other locations so the problem is with my I connection or the server. I think it's the server throttling the speed.
Any tweaks?  I had tried the webshare but didn't have much luck with it allowing complete downloads.  The ftp is slow but works.
Thanks in advance

Thats about right. 256kb (kilobits) upload speed equates to an upload data rate of 32kB (kiloBytes).

I forget the details sometimes.

256k sucks I guess!

Thanks for the reply.
