Title: SME Server7 and all Mac Network (Answered)
Post by: imcintyre on December 20, 2006, 12:14:08 AM
Evening;

I was considering giving my sister a PC with sme7 installed and a cms program like ezpublish or typo so she could host her own website. It may also keep her out of trouble. My question is, she lives in a house of Mac's. I think all OS version 10.4.7.

I am reasonably confident that I could make it work in a house of XP's.

I presume that the entire sme server 7 could be administered from a Mac because it is selfcontained but, I know zip about Mac's.
What about the cms, is it similarly self contained
Does anybody know if this will work or where I could look for where to start?
Does Putty run on Mac?

Thx in advance for your help.

Yes it works using a Mac.
I have a MAC Mini @ home here that I use.

You have "Terminal" under Applications

From Command Line:
Computer:~ home$ ssh -l root 192.168.1.103

This will get you into the server.
The rest is like using putty on a windows box.

I am running several SME 7's, including a school with 500 students and a mix of Win98, W2k, XP, Mac OS9 and OSX - all are connecting without issues - and I can admin the server from a Mac if I need to.
