Title: Upgrade problem
Post by: Jean-Guy on February 17, 2002, 11:42:51 PM
I just upgraded from 4.1 to 5.1 and everything works except httpd. It failed to start during boot. I cannot access my web page or web mail? Does anyone know what happened?

As long as your system is standard then upgrade should always work smoothly. So you should send a detailed report or your problem to bugs@e-smith.com.

I am haveing the same problem. I had installed mod_gzip from this howto at http://myezserver.com/docs/mitel/apache-mod_gzip-howto.html
Now when I tried to test an upgrade of 4.1 to 5.1 it would not work. I could not access the server anymore from ssh or http. I noticed when booting that httpd would not start. That is the only mod. I have installed except for server updates. Does anyone know what would be the problem?

Thanks,

Kip

It's possible, I guess, that the version of mod_gzip included doesn't work with the Apache version provided with SME 5.1.2, but it doesn't seem likely--I'm using the e-smith-mod_gzip RPM on my server without any trouble.

Take a look at the apache error log; is there anything useful in there?
