I tried to read all threads about a catchall pop-account and local delivery on the sme. I'm still confused with one question:
My external (secondary mailserver) is named with mail.XXXdomain.de. The SME domain is named as YYYdomain.org. The user names on both domains are the same - except of the domain ending. The external account is setup as a pop catchall.
Will the SME deliver the mail correct to the internal users? Sorry again, if I missed something in the forum.
Thank's for any hints in advance

Have a look at this post. It sounds similiar to what you want to do.

Sorry for being unclear.
There are multiple user pop-account's at my ISP. For all users, mail can be fetched with one catchall-account to the SME. In my understanding this has to be the secondary mail-server with a catchall-account.
After the SME fetched all the mail, there should be mail for
- abc@domain.de
- def@domain.de
- ghi@domain.de
and so on.
Internal, on the SME, the users are named
- abc@xyz.org
- def@xyz.org
- ghi@xyz.org
...
The server is running in server only mode. Will the mails being delivered correct?

Hmm, anybody out there? I'm still stuck with my question.
Again: I want to fetch all the mail from a pop, named like mail.XYZdomain.de. In the catchall process has this to be the secondary mailserver? The mailadress of a single user is abc.def@XYZdomain.de. The internal mailadress of this user in the SME is abc.def@UVWdomain.org. Will the mail automatically correct being delivered?
Thx for any hints.

After playing araound a couple of hours with the mail-settings, here's a solution:
In a lot of threads covering this issue, the creating of a virtual domain with the same name as the external mailserver is suggested. The trick is to set the DNS-resolution of the virtual domain NOT on local.
All mail settings are as followed:
1.) - no public pop allowed
- only imaps allowed
- webmail https
2.) - e-mail filters like you prefer
3.) - multidrop (check this with your mail-provider)
- secondary mailserver = the name of your external mailserver
- pop-name and password for catchall (ask your provider)
- multidrop default (ask your provider)
Then create a virtual domain. The doamin has to be named like the secondary mailserver (except of possible mail-prefixes in the domain-name.) Choose PRIMARY and set the DNS-resolution of the virtual domain to INTERNET.
This settings are working for me. I couldn't find the settings of the virtual domain in earlier posts maybe I missed it, sorry in this case.
