What an improvement!!!
the speed has dramatically improved, no waiting for a copy to sent-mail using thunderbird (imap).
you guys should really feel proud. :D
i work for a non-profit organization and if it weren't for the SME server we would not have been able to install a new e-mail server. i have yet to have any, and i mean any issues with the SME server.
thanks again for a job well done.

7.1 with LDAP-auth?
I noticed that one of my several running SMEs updated to 7.1, and checked the announcement, but I didn't see anything about LDAP yet?
Would be a BIG plus!
But SME is even otherwise a cool product, I've about 15 clients running it as PDC for 10-25 pcs.
Works real well!
Thanx to the Team!

Updated my 4 servers succesfully. No errors !
Many contribs are installed on it and I had no trouble after or during the update. Great work and many many thanks to all of you !!!
Here 3 things :
I had this message when updating :
Updating : glibc ##################### [10/563]
usage: /etc/rc.d/init.d/supervise/sshd {start|stop|restart|status|sigalrm|sigcont|sighup|sigint|sigkill|sigstop|sigterm|sigusr1|sigusr2|svdisable}
Is it an error or simply a post install message telling how to use the new command ?
I also noticed that emails were not delivered after updating without a reboot. Of course, all mails were delivered after the reboot.
Last thing, I saw that a lot of updates were redownloaded even if they were already installed. So, a lot of rpms are in double (in smeupdates and in smeos). Of course it's about a few hundreds of Mb and hdd are a lot of Gb...
Thanks again, that was an easy way to begin 2007 at work !

I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I feel certian that if it is not someone will guide me gently in the correct direction.
I am in the process of a download to the 7.1 version and am not sure which distribution I should get.
Seems they are several to choose from and not sure of the differences.
I see the following choices:
smeserver-7.1-SRPMS.iso 31-Dec-2006 16:02 473M
smeserver-7.1-SRPMS.iso.md5sum 31-Dec-2006 16:02 58
smeserver-7.1-SRPMS.iso.zsync 31-Dec-2006 16:03 947K
smeserver-7.1.iso 31-Dec-2006 16:02 475M
smeserver-7.1.iso.ls-lRt 31-Dec-2006 16:02 128K
smeserver-7.1.iso.md5sum 31-Dec-2006 16:02 52
smeserver-7.1.iso.zsync 31-Dec-2006 16:02 950K
smeserver-SRPMS.iso 31-Dec-2006 16:02 473M
smeserver.iso 31-Dec-2006 16:02 475M
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which is the correct one for a new installation or an upgrade from :
1 - @ 5.6 version
2 - @ 7.0 version
Thanks for the assistance as always,
Dsweet

In both cases you should have the iso of the version you would like to upgrade to: smeserver.iso This is by default the latest release (in this case smesever-7.1.iso is the same as this is the latest release). The SRPMS iso is an iso with source code of all the packages included in SME Server, the files that end on md5sum hold the checksum of the iso with the same name and the .zsync files are files to be used to zsync (alternative download method) the iso to your PC.
Be carefull upgrading from 5.0 to 7.1 at once as I don't know if that will work out of the box. There could be older not supported hardware and installed contribs could cause you prblems when installing. Try to search the forums, for more details on upgrading. The upgrade from 7.0 to 7.1 should function without problems.

Thank you - I supose the confusion was due to all the dates being the same ans the file sizes also. Seems I should bring the 5.6 up to 6.0 first then to 7.1.
Thanks for the quick reply.

Unmodified 5.6 boxes should upgrade fine to 7.1, but contribs and other tweaks may cause you pain. We did quite a bit of work in 7.0 development to make 5.6->7.0 upgrades work. However, we didn't do any testing of 5.6->7.1 as 5.X has been declared obsolete for some time.
That said, I would recommend a backup/restore rather than the double upgrade via 6.0 (which is also obsolete). It's a good time to clean out the cobwebs and remove any potentially incompatible contribs and other tweaks.
