Title: Restoring from Backup - I've been playing around a bit
Post by: Adam on February 19, 2002, 12:11:58 AM
Hello there,

a few days ago I installed SME and with a little help have a functioning email/proxy server.

I've been on the e-smith websites lookin at what additional software I can install.

I've downloaded :
phpmyadmin - haven't been able to get it going
phpSysInfo-1.9
ServerStatus
Phorum
Webconsole
User-Manager

When I grab one of those "contributions" from e-smith / myezserver, should I assume that they all go in the right folders etc and won't stuff anything up ?

I'm flying a bit blind here, as I'm new to linux etc and am trying to be cautious.

I created a desktop backup and was wondering:

To restore, do I simply put my e-smith 5.12 CD back in and re setup a new server and then restore. Will that get everything that was done at that point. I ran the backup straight after I added all the users etc.

cheers,

Adam

Yes

You should not have any problems

you can remove any of the rpm with rpm -e RPMNAME

Thanks a lot Tim,

I'm having a bit of trouble uninstalling the phpmyadmin module.

Is used this to install:
rpm -ivh /home/e-smith/files/ibays/rpm/files/dmc-mitel-phpmyadmin-2.2.1-0.noarch.rpm

I've tried this to uninstall:
rpm -e /home/e-smith/files/ibays/rpm/files/dmc-mitel-phpmyadmin-2.2.1-0.noarch.rpm

Should this work ? Does using this method remove all files etc that were created and return the system to it's original state ?

cheers,

Adam
