Hi,
I have a canoni70 printer I need to connect to my sme server via usb.
I have install cups from here
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/rvandenaker/testing/smeserver-cups/documentation/
When i test print from sme server-manager everything works, i get a test page, but when i connect to the printer from windows.
I.e go to \\servername right click on my printer and connect. It seems to install properly but i cannot do a print test, i cannot print and I cant even change the port.
Any idea's to this problem will be great.
Thanks

This should fix all your problems. Search the forum for "use client driver = no". Take care: if you install WIN-Drivers on the SME you *MUST* be local and domain admin. Probably you'll need the win printer installer disk. If there are postscript-drivers, use those.

I am working my way through but still to no avail. I wiped and reinstalled SME a few days ago but when i am trying to run
yum groupinstall cups-printanalyzer
I get an error of
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
Error: No Groups on which to run command
I have downloaded the repo file - yum update works fine.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Read the HOW-TO
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/rvandenaker/testing/smeserver-cups/documentation/
Get the rpm's from here:
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/rvandenaker/testing/smeserver-cups/repositories/7.0/
Do a yum local install. Should work.

I'm curious to know why you have installed cups. SME server standard printing supports printing via USB. If that didn't work for you, then please provide details via a bug report.

Hi,
Well when i do that and add the printer though the standard add printer, I can't see it from any of my windows machines.
Thanks

As I said quite clearly (I thought), please provide details of your problem via a Bug Report. Thanks.

Thanks,
Thing is, as I said im not sure if it is a bug because SME is picking the printer up fine, it just my windows machine is not seeing it. Im not sure where I would start to find out if it is a bug or not?
Thanks

Once you report via the Bug Tracker, developers there will get you to help them determine whether it is a bug or not.

Hey,
I have been trying to figure it out but how do I report the bug?
Thanks

Register in the bugtracker and afterwards click "New" to report a new bug. In you case choose the SME Server 7.x category and describe you problem... it won't hurt if you just try...

Ok,
I have registered the bug to see if it is indeed a bug although im not sure whether it is.
It might be driver or something but not sure.
Will see wat they say
Thanks
