Title: SME Using 750 Megabyte RAM
Post by: Murphy on January 24, 2007, 07:01:01 PM
Hi,
i am running a Homeserver with 1,5 Gigabyte RAM and SME (Kernel and Applications) is using about 750 MB of it. Is this normal? I am using it for data exchange between 5 Computers + Internet and Mail.

Why is it using this much?

Would you prefer the OS never to use the RAM you have bought?

It is quite normal for Linux systems to use all the RAM available.

So that it runs as fast as possible, by keeping things in memory rather than reading them from disk every time they are required.
