Title: Password
Post by: p-jones on January 30, 2007, 09:48:17 AM
Something untoward seems to have happened to V6 server I have. I can no longer log in as root or admin. The password is being rejected. Aside of this it seems to be functioning normally (although I cannot check the logs). I havent changed the password and I do have concerns it has been hacked even though it has been secured fairly well.

If anyone knows a way or of a tool to reset the root or admin password I would love to know either by way of this forum or if it is considered a security risk, by private email. (createch@xnet.co.nz)

Thanks
peter

In this thread I have once replied how to reset your root and admin password: http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=31959.0 . After resetting passwords go through your log files thoroughly to see what happened. If you have really found a security breach that is a vulnerability in SME Server do not post it in the forums but contact security@contribs.org instead.

Good luck!
