Title: Trouble running as vmware guest OS
Post by: auszeus on February 03, 2007, 01:50:30 AM
Hi,

I have successfully installed SME as a guest OS under vmware but I cannot access any of the web pages or server management pages.

I am running this on a WinXP machine and are using the bridged network option.

The IP address is 192.168.0.x netmask 255.255.255.0 with default gateway set to 192.168.0.1.

I can ping the IP adress of the SME server and I can ping other machines on the network from the SME VM.

Any idea why I cannot connect to the web interface ?

What is the IP of your XP machine and what is the IP of your SME VM.

I've worked this out - the personal firewall on the XP host was the culprit.  The only way I can get this working isto disable the personal firewall.
Title: firewall on host

I have just done this myself (SME7.1 as guest OS in WMware 5.5).

I discovered the same problem with the host firewall.
The twist in my case is that I use SME as the primary firewall (beside other services) for my whole LAN.
But the problem was the same, I had to disable the firewall on the host (Sygate), otherwise nobody could connect to internet.

This could probably be solved by setting a rule in the host firewall.
I have tried a couple, but no success yet.

Anybody with fresh ideas?
