Title: Can't access mydomain/files via http

I change the perms to 777 and www.www and can't access this directory. The only way to access (only primary) is through ftp.
I refered to the directory /home/e-smith/files/ibays/IBAY/files and NOT to IBAY/html/files
In the SME6.0.1 I can
What happens?
