Title: Which logs for power off?
Post by: haymann on February 16, 2007, 03:20:20 PM
I have a server at a client's location that is frequently off although it is supposed to be on 24/7. Can someone point me to the right set of log files so I can see if it looks like someone is turning it off by pressing the power button? I am wondering if the cleaning crew is turning it off for some reason...

It is a stock SME 7.1 with the OpenVPN-bridge contrib installed.
Thank you very much,
Ryan

Try the message.log and you should see when the server got offline and when it went back on.

I see a bunch of entries from last night when I started it, and then nothing until I had the client turn it on again this morning. I am guessing that means it wasn't a proper shutdown.

Oh, I also just got a rebuild20 event email from that server... I wonder if that is because cutting the power suddenly has degraded the array?

Thanks, I'll keep digging.
