Title: Blackberry

I just upgraded from 6.0.1 to 7.1 over the weekend. It went great :) except for the Blackeberries.

The way they are setup, is for the carrier to check through IMAP if there is any new mail. It does not work anymore with 7.1.

What do I need to open to allow for IMAP. The Blackberry proivider does not support IMAPS, only IMAP. How do I enable IMAP remote access?

I don't want to use the local delivery & forward emails to the Blackberry address. I only want the email to be picked up by Blackberry if they are not at their desk with their Outlook open.

I think that

config setprop imap access public
signal-event email-update
would do it.
You'll still have to enable imap under e-mail settings (imap function will be there once you run this command).

Rather than open IMAP to the internet is there some way of configuring the blackberry VPN client to play nice with the SME VPN service? I can get a mail program that connects via wi-fi to SME IMAP using VPN. When I look at the VPN client setup on my BB Curve 8320 (very, very cool phone) it shows pre-configured setups for a variety of hardware VPN solutions, but it's not clear what might work with SME. Anyone have any experience with VPN from a wi-fi enabled BB to SME?

I wish, I ended up enabling imap ssl and just setting it up from the phone as a standard imap conenction. VPN would be a better solution. I tried the pre-confirgured setups, but none seem to work.

My Blackberry has been working for months using IMAPS.

I seem to recall a check box on the blackberry account setup site that specifies that IMAP requires "security".

The issue (for me at least) wasn't getting IMAP to work (it has been), it's that a VPN connection would be more secure and useful.

Maybe thats your issue, but the original posting was related to blackberry "not" supporting IMAPS, which is incorrect, as it does support it.
