Hi All,
After having problems with the voicemail on an SPA3k I decided to uninstall SAIL and all the other rpms that go with it. I also wanted to change the numbering of my friends exts so we could set up a sibling trunk to call each other, I had tried renumbering on the fly but the SPA3K would not regitser unless I changed it back to the original number no matter how many times I tried. So I got the server rebooted, connected via ssh and installed the latest sail425 and all the other rpms. When I logged into server-manager the old exts and trunks were still there  So I just deleted all of them and started again. I set the start ext to 5100 in globals, saved and committed. I then created the SPA3k ext, 1 local x-lite and 1 remote x-lite and all show as being connected. Created the SPA3K trunk, 1 x Sipgate trunk and 1 x viopdiscount trunk, again they all connected. My friend can call out using the SPA3k or the local x-lite ext to my landline here and his friends in the UK and Germany. The problems start when I call him on his BT line (SPA3k) I get a couple of rings and then it says that I have dialed an invalid ext. This also happens if he calls the x-lite from the SPA3k or vice versa. If I call the local x-lite from the remote x-lite (which registers OK) I almost immediately get call connected showing, the seconds tick away but no one is there and in fact the locak x-lite hasn't even rung  Anyone got any ideas :D He is running SME7.1.1 in server and gateway mode. Thanks in advance.

Hello Del
I'm not entirely sure that it's a good idea to remove and re-install SAIL due to a problem you have with an Spa3K. However....
When I logged into server-manager the old exts and trunks were still there
Absolutely, this is because we NEVER delete customer data; we figure it's your data, not ours. If you are/were also using mysql to hold your CDRs then that would also survive any deletion.
As to your problems with phones, it's impossible to help you without seeing console logs of the events. You will need to observe what's going on in order to diagnose your problem - which, despite the re-install, still seems to revolve around the spa3K set-up. Have you looked at the spa3K guide in our tech wiki?

Hi Selintra,

I followed through this to check that the SPA3k settings were all OK and they were :? Anyhow, over the weekend I will try to log into the Asterisk console and initiate the call inwards and also an ext to ext call and record the output and post it here. I'm not entirely sure that it's a good idea to remove and re-install SAIL due to a problem you have with an Spa3K.
With hindsight (the only truly 20/20 vision) I agree with you. It was just the fact that we wanted to set up a sibling and were both running the default 5000 range of exts. At least we had everything working except for the voice mail on the SPA3k  Still what's done is done :D It is made more difficult by the fact that I am doing everything remotely and my mate is lost when you can't open a window or right click in something :D

Hello Del,
You can still run siblings even if they do have the same phone number range. Simply prepend a number (for example a 9) to the dial string and reflect that in the route (in your case _95XXX). You can then remove the 9 in the trunk mask (9: ). Now to dial an internal number dial 5XXX, to dial a Sibling dial 95XXX. Job done.

Hi Selintra,
Now you tell me :D Anyhow I don't think that if I change the numbering back it will help now so I need to make the calls while watching the console. A couple of things that I have discovered is:
1). I had set the sibling trunk dial plan as _5XXX, so it was trying to dial the internal exts using the sibling  So I have deleted the route and the sibling trunk for the time being
2). I logged into server-manager and made my remote ext the closed and open inbound route for the SPA3k trunk and dialed it from my own phone and it rang in OK :D My friend was in bed so I couldn't really do much more testing.
So when I have something to report from the console ooutput I will post it here, again thanks for your time and help.

Hi Selintra,
I have finally sorted this out :D After resetting the SPA3k to factory defaults then using tftp and dhcp to set it up again everything works fine :D My buddy can make and receive calls on his BT trunk, his sipgate trunk and make calls from the sipdiscount trunk :D The voice mail comes in after about 8 seconds as do all the other extensions :D
I am still waiting for update 3 to be released to solve my NIC reversal bug see here: http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2612)
But I have now got the sibling trunk fully working in server only mode 8) see here: http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=35981.0
Thanks for a great contrib and all your help.
Regards,
Del
