I am interested in hosting my own website do think that e-smith is good for that purpose only. I dont have any technical backround about webhosting and Internet. Please let me know if I am on the right track.

Your best bet would be to let someone else do it. Why go to the expense and bother. Many organizations are willing to do it free. My suggestion would be to develop the Web Site and have someone else host it. If you really like the experience and want to get involved professionally then build your own E-Smith server and have a ISP put it at their location. You don't need the 24/7 job of keeping it backed up and runnng.

A.ADAM: Local hosting of a web site isn't as clearly a big win as local hosting of an email server. A lot depends on the type of internet connection you have, what kind of traffic you are expecting, whether you need a secure server, etc. Having an ISP host your web site can be the right choice in many instances. On the other hand, some of our customers have a fast internet connection and, for them, local hosting has worked great. Kim
