Title: Windows printing problem
Post by: matprova on March 06, 2007, 01:35:18 AM
Hello,
i'm trying to setup a print server using my SME box. Everything seems to work fine, I can install the printer in the server manager, I connect the printer to my windows machine but when I try to print a test page I receive an error "test page print error".

What can I do to solve this problem?

you can print only if you have logged into windows with a username and password which exists on your server. if not go to "start" "run" type \\ip of your server, you will get a username password box enter username and password of a user of your sme box and then try to print

I use Smeserver as a domain controller, and i log in the domain.

I think that the problem is related to the driver, because if I use a simple driver everything works well, but when I load a complex driver the queue stop working and every computer report an error.

Makes sense

Doesn't make sense

When you expect a printer to be controlled by a server you shouldn't hook it up to the workstation. Unless the workstation is also offering print-server services.
Normally people use a network-capable printer or a printer that's hooked up directly to a server.
