Please report bugs and potential bugs in the bug tracker - Thanks

The error was resolved in:
http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2635
Resume:
With the new changes in 7.1.1, the current version of smeserver-userpanel will
render the server-manager screen unreachable. This can be verified by
installing smeserver-userpanel followed by post-upgrade and reboot. Try
logging into server-manager and you should get an error. If you do a
netstat -an | grep 980, you will see that nothing is listening on that port.
You have to remove all (dungog) contribs and upgrade this.
Thank you for sme server developer team for your help.

There was a failed attempt of update thru the user panel "Software install" option. I got the same problem of "Bad Gateway The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server" I accessed the console thru Putty. By using the following upgrade, the problem was solved.
yum --enablerepo=smedev install smeserver-userpanel
My updated version is showing as 7.0.0.1

My updated version is showing as 7.0.0.1
Is that your SME Server updated version? if so we don't have that version only 7.0, 7.1, 7.1.1 and 7.1.2
-
Yes. It is showing in the bottom left like this.
SME Server 7.0.0.11

Now I am trying another update thru the "Software Installer" option.

> yum --enablerepo=smedev install smeserver-userpanel
I wouldn't recommend smedev unless you know exactly what you are getting
the workaround for this issue was posted a week before the bug above
