Newbie Question...
I have been running SME Server for some time, and I'm now on 7.1.3
I am able to FTP into several of the external web sites I run, but just recently I started having a problem with just one. I can connect and transfer files to and from all of them except one,
After much correspondence with the web-hosts helpdesk, and even getting someone outside our LAN to FTP into the offending site, it would appear that something is blocking port 21 for this one particular site.
Can anyone suggest what could be causing the block, and more important, how can I fix it.....

except one,
Is this a SME server or some other server?
If this is not SME server and you can connect to other servers than it's a problem for their helpdesk and not our forum.

Well as their server responds to FTP from outside the LAN built around teh SME Server, and the site is accessible then the block on Port 21 for this site could only be within the SME server, or I suppose the ISP/Cable Company. I hadn't thought of the ISP before so I will start investigating there. I don't see why they should block one port on one domain ??

Ok let's see if i get this...
built around teh SME Server
They have a SME server... and can they acces it? Or are you the only one that has this problem?
I don't beleive that it's SME's fault. Did you do anything to block this port.
And ISP's don't block just one port on one ip.

Well, it does seem as though it was an external factor, as the blocked site is now functioning OK, withot me doing anything. I guess we will never know what the cause was, as the web host is not likely to admit they had something wrong.
Sorry to have bothered you.
