Title: Adding Lexmark Z52 to router on parallel port
Post by: Daryll Griffiths on March 03, 2002, 07:26:17 PM
Hi Everyone,

I have added my lexmark z52 to my router and added it in the server-manager but once I have installed the drivers on the workstation the software fails to initialize communications with the printer and therefore doesn't print.

Help !!!

Thanks,

Daryll Griffiths.

Couple of questions...how did you install the drivers? Did you do a network printer install on the windows workstation? Also, does your printer require bi-directional communication to work?

They can be tricky beasts to set up.  I have on working on a peer-to-peer network and I followed the instructions at:

http://www2.lexmark.com/infatlib.nsf/Document/ENG9472?OpenDocument

Essentially, you need to disable the bi-directional options and capture the printer port.

To capture in windows XP
if it's similar to windows 2000
then from command prompt
net use lptx: \\ /persistent:yes
