Title: Samba printing problems
Post by: Audriusv on March 30, 2007, 03:15:57 PM
Hi,

SME 7.1, updated to latest software. I would like to allow guest to print. I do in template-custom/etc/smb.conf/50printers

guest ok = yes

then

expand-template /etc/samba/smb.conf
service smb restart

Then I look in /etc/samba/smb.conf. There is line in [printers] with guest ok = yes.

Then I do

testparm /etc/samba/smb.conf

And in a dump of service definitions I can not see line guest ok = yes...? I can not connect to server and to printer without username and password...

What could be wrong?

This isn't related but...

SME 7.1, updated to latest software

The latest is SME 7.1.3 so your server isn't exactly updated to the latest sowtware or did you forget to write .3

Yes, sorry... installed from 7.1 ISO and updated with yum to 7.1.3.

users still have to login, or otherwise they'll get no access to the printer

But I would like to let users print without authentication... How to do that?

the user/pass in windows has to be the same as the user/pass on the server. than you don't have to enter username/password  :)
