I have just user ther server-manager's install software function and let yum to update my 7.1 server and then the "server-manager" gone......
I have search teh forum and found not idea on how this happen, I have do some test base on some post's advice....
[root@server]# /etc/rc7.d/S86httpd-e-smith status
/service/httpd-e-smith: run (pid 3766) 708 seconds, normally down
[root@server]# /etc/rc7.d/S86httpd-admin status
-bash: /etc/rc7.d/S86httpd-admin: No such file or directory
I can now putty to my server and the server is working fine as a gateway and samber server, just the "server-manager" and user-manager are gone.
Can any office me some advice..... do I need to re-install the server ? or get the rpm from the CD to install the server-manager again ?

The update may not have finished properly. Log in with putty and try the update again.
# yum update
If it shows more updates, install them. Then issue the post-upgrade and reboot. Do this even if no additional updates were installed. It may have been missed before during your initial update.
# signal-event post-upgrade
# signal-event reboot

You could try this solution: http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=36744.msg163599#msg163599
That worked like a charm for me.

thanks pfloor, did what you said, now I got httpd-admin back in /etc/initd.
but it just did'n run in system boot of by command, I have check the log in /var/log/httpd-admin, and I got :
@40000000462d17680003884c Syntax error on line 300 of /etc/httpd/admin-conf/httpd.conf:
@40000000462d17680004e3f4 Invalid command 'AuthExternal', perhaps mis-spelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration
the line 300 of /etc/httpd/admin-conf/httpd.conf is :
AuthExternal pwauth
did I still miss something ?

What contribs do you have installed?
-
user-manager pannel and some other like phpmyadmin, phpsysinfo...
phpmyadmin, phpsysinfo..are working fine.
I just tinking if the update is having some problem....
-
Do you mean you have smeserver-userpanel or smeserver-userpanels installed? If so, some versions of smeserver-userpanel have known issues that are probably causing your problems.
You can try updating smeserver-userpanel or you may need to remove it.
-Remove smeserver-userpanel(s)
-signal-event post-upgrade
-signal-event reboot
If this fixes the problem then you can install the newer version of smeserver-userpanel(s).
