Hello All,
First let me say that I think E-Smith is the best/easy Linux system I have ever used.
My problem/question is this. I am a small Hosting provider, currently I am using Macintosh servers and 1 NT box for those NT things. I want to use e-smith for just the following... Please let me know what I can and can't do.
I need Primary DNS
I need full email smtp/pop3 for main and virtual domains.
I need ftp/http access only to some clients not to all, some I am going to have to route through to the Mac Server due to some cgi's in Lasso/Filemaker.
Can all of this be done with e-smith?? Also what do I have to change to allow my partner to have outside access to add users/email accounts, but not mess with the virtual domains?
Any and all help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Phil

Not without modifications, no.

To allow outside access to the web administration at all, it would require you to either significantly reduce the security of the system, or you would need to install apache-SSL, or install SSH and use port forwarding or a text mode browser on the server. These are all things that people have done, but require some Linux expertise to set up.
To allow selective access to the management features, you would need to set up an additional "panel" with a subset of the features, and with different access restrictions. See the design documentation on this web site, and the source code under /etc/e-smith/web/panels.
Best of luck in your venture, and thanks for the encouraging comments.
