what do you mean with "and cannot sign on as admin"? where you are unable to sign on? console? web interface?

Can't sign on with server-manager with web access or at a command prompt.
-
At the server console when I try to sign on the following message appears:
Real uid cannot exec script.
Then kicks me back to the login prompt

I am using this as a production mail server.
Can you tell me at which level the bug was introduced?
Can I install SME on a new box and copy users and mail to there?
-
Really need to find out what the cause of this is, but since this is on a production server and you probably need access, you could try to login to the console as root, then run - passwd admin - and change the admin password to match the root password, then try to access server-manager.

Yes, already tried that with no luck.
Can you point me to something that tells me which directories to copy to a fresh install to get the users and associated files transferred?
-
I take it that a signal-event post-upgrade ; signal-event reboot didn't work either?
I have done this in a test environment only. If you have re-created all of your users, ibays and previous environment, and if all you want to do is then move/copy their data:
User data is stored in /home/e-smith/files/users - make sure you adjust the permissions correctly. If you have issues with mail, you may need to delete the users /Maildir/dovecot* files, they will be recreated on the next login
Ibay information is stored in /home/e-smith/files/ibays - again adjust permissions.

Do the users have to be recreated? These are not backed up?

Yes, they are backed up, but you didn't detail how you were going to do the restore? I thought you were just going to move files.

Just curious - was this bug introduced through the yum updates?

Bug 2802 was found in version 7.0 of our SME Server, but because no follow up happened we don't know why or where it occurs....can't happen that much as people haven't flooded that bug...

I would love to fill out a bug report but I have no clue when or why this happened.
Turns out I don't have a good backup - can the backup script be run in another way since I don't have access to server-admin?
