Title: Access User Home Directories Via HTTP
Post by: millerte on April 28, 2007, 12:58:05 AM
Hello. I am rather new at using the SME server, so I thought I would post my question here. I did look around but could not find anything.

I know on older versions of the sme server, you could look at files uploaded to the users home directories, by going to http://thedomain.com/~username.

however i can not figure out how to do it on Sme Server 7.

If anyone has any suggestions on how I might do this please post here.

thanks so much!

I also asked about this some time ago. Sometimes you need to think outside of the box with your search terms to find the correct answers.

Anyway, this thread, http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=33638.0 will give you the necessary information to make the public user directories. Also, towards the end, it even has the necessary steps to enable PHP in the directories. Keep in mind this can pose a security risk, the php that is.

Grattman

No, that's never been true (on unmodified servers).
