Title: Dan Brown, Please help...Blade failed to install due to IMP
Post by: bowhuntr on March 08, 2002, 08:54:08 AM
Hi Dan,

Can you please offer those of us who upgraded to IMP 3 some help with the blade patches on 5.1.2. I received messages on most of the packages that they conflict with others already installed. The only mod I have made to my system was the one's listed in yor How-To on upgrading to IMP 3. Do you (or anyone) have any advice?

Thanks!!

Guys,

I think you will find that the update1 will only patch PHP 4.0.6 which is the version shipped with SME 5.1.2. You have updated to PHP 4.1.1 so that you can run IMP 3. PHP 4.1.1 requires a different patch, hence the error messages.

Check out www.php.net for the security issues and patches for 4.1.1.

Jon,

Actually, SME 5.1.2 ships with PHP 4.0.4pl1.  This upgrades it to 4.0.6, which still isn't new enough to run IMP 3.

Everyone else,

No, I can't help you at the moment, as I haven't been able to get the update blade installed.  I expect, though, that you'll have one of two options if you want to use IMP 3: (1) do NOT install Update 1, or (2) install the PHP RPMs with --nodeps.

I've built RPMs of PHP 4.1.2 which incorporate Mitel's patch, but they still (probably) won't play well with Update 1.

any chance you plan to share those RPM's? (4.1.2) I would really like to get this PHP problem fixed so I can regain sending functionality through IMP. Dan Brown wrote:

Bowhuntr and others,

Yes, I intend to make these RPMs available--in fact, I though I'd set them to upload to e-smith.org the other day, but I just discovered this morning that I hadn't.  They should be there tonight; I'll make an announcement when I see them there.

Thanks again! I'll be on the lookout for them.

Hi Dan,

I upgraded using your 4.1.2-2es RPM's and still was not able to send email using IMP 3.0 . I read that the blade fix would reset the file uploads back to "On" . I see that your RPM's did not do that. Is it "safe" to now turn that back on once your RPM's are in place? Thanks in advance for your answer and for providing the RPM's!

The blade resets file uploads to "on", but my RPMs don't.  You'd need to make that change manually.
