Title: SME server in Intel® 3000 Server Chipset
Post by: socate on May 07, 2007, 10:53:13 AM
Hi all, anyone install SME on servers with this chipset? I need to know if there are some issue with RAID and NIC. Please let me know if SME know and understand Core2Duo CPU's and if are any problems with them...

Thank you!

I have installed SME7 on this chipset (Intel S3000AH mainboard).

I use SME's standard software RAID 1 without problems. NIC is recognized during install and runs at 1Gb speed.

The system is very stable.

Only drawback so far is that the sme7admin contrib cannot monitor the hardware temperature or fanspeed, because lm_sensors does not support this chipset (yet...)

Hi OzMoosis,

I need an advice from you! How do you install SME on RAID1? I ask you because after I finish install Grub return Error 2.

What I do: I configure RAID controller with CTRL + E and after that I start installer. SME install without any problems but on first reboot GRUB return the error 2.

What I need to do?

it's not possible to use hw RAID? There are no posibilities to specify the drivers?

Hi all,

I reopen this thread because now I have the servers; I install on RAID1 (software) but seems to move slow - comparing with another one (on the same configuration) but without RAID1 (with only one Hard disk).

Someone who install SME 7.2 on this mainboard have this problems? What BIOS configurations is used?

I have a Server with mainboard S3000AH and 2 x HD 160GB and all RAID controllers disabled!

Thnks in advance!

PS: the status of RAID is fine! all partitions are [UU]
There is any chance to use RHLE drivers for Hardware RAID?
