I am trying to use Blades to to that php udate. But I cannot get it to download.
Has anyone had any luck with this.
Thanks,
Jehu.
-
I am also unable to download the latest blades/security patches.
HELLLOOOO out there. I wish to secure my machine but I cannot reach the patches?
patrick

i´m also not able to acces the patch:
You are about to install the SMEServer-5.1.2_Update1 blade.
An error occurred while fetching the software license agreements for SMEServer-5.1.2_Update1-02.noarch:
Could not receive data from blades server
But yesterday it went a bit further, i could agree with term, and select the
rpms. Then a "in progress" window appeared and nothing happend there
all coutners/grafics stayed at 0
Is it also okay to install the update rpms manually.
rpm -Uvh packeagename
or is it fatal to do so?
-
I'm having the same problem too, perhaps there is a bit of a problem here.
-
I also get that error, so I just installed the patches manually.
Goto: ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/updates/5.1.2/Update1
Copy the files from the 'RPMS subdirectory' (8 files) into a new directory on your server and then apply them as a group from the command line:
rpm -Uvh *.rpm
-
Thanks a bunch Luis.
I applied the patches manually.
regards,
patrick

I'm running 5.0.3 and want to do the upgradr to 5.1 update 1. Can I just install the 8 rpms like ypu said? I've been getting the same "Unable to fetch..." error for the blades. Glad to see I'm not alone here. Maybe I should just wait a few days till the blade server catches up?

Tom,
For SME 5.0 users, you need to install SMEServer-5.0_Update2 prior to installing SMEServer-5.0_Update4.
See the NOTES section at http://www.e-smith.org/article.php3
for more information.
You'll also have to run the rpms manually if you cannot connect to the Blades server.
To run update2 goto: ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/updates/5.0/Update2
For Update4, goto: ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/updates/5.0/Update4
(21files in Update 4 for SME 5.0 users).
Just follow the instructions in the README file for manual installation.
-
Luis, I already have update 3 installed. Is that a problem? What about an upgradr to 5.1 Can I do that through the blades?

No you cannot upgrade to 5.1.2 through Blades. You need to download the .iso from the downloads page, burn it, and install 5.1.2 from the cd.

Hi Tom,
As Terry said, you'll have to install version 5.1.2 from the ISO image, then install the Update 1 security patch.

I have tried installing these RPMS manually...I get the following error:
error: failed dependencies:
libmn.so.11 is needed by php-4.0.6-7es4
php = 4.0.4pl1-9 is needed by php-manual-4.0.4pli-9
Any help with this is appreciated.

Pardon me....I forgot to mention I am running SME v5 and the error happens when I run the following command:
rpm -Uvh *.rpm
All 8 RPMS have been copied to my tmp directory.
-
I copied all 8 files to a new folder I created in the admin home directory. These were the only files there.
Then did rpm -Uvh *.rpm and it worked. I did it from win2000 box and then opened
my home folder on the e-smith box and paste it there. I then went back to my e-smith box and ran rpm -Uvh *.rpm. It worked for me.
Good Luck,
Jehu.

Ille,
You cannot use the 8 files you copied. Those are for versions 5.1.1 and 5.1.2.
For v5.0 updates, there are about 21 files.
In an earlier post, I mentioned how to update SME v5 manually, I've copied it here:
----------
For SME 5.0 users, you need to install SMEServer-5.0_Update2 prior to installing SMEServer-5.0_Update4.
See the NOTES section at http://www.e-smith.org/article.php3
for more information.
You'll also have to run the rpms manually if you cannot connect to the Blades server.
To run update2 goto: ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/updates/5.0/Update2
For Update4, goto: ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/updates/5.0/Update4
(21files in Update 4 for SME 5.0 users).
Just follow the instructions in the README file for manual installation.

I too am running SME 5.0 with Update 3. I downloaded the 21 files from ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/updates/5.0/Update4/RPMS/ and ran "rpm -Uvh *.rpm" just like the README said. I got errors about failed dependencies similar to what Ille mentioned. Other than the Blades for Updates 2 and 3, the only things I've installed are the User-Manager and Port Forwarding panels.
error: failed dependencies:

I have the exact problem Bill listed. Many of the rpms are listed as already installed, and the new PHP rpms don't get installed.
If anyone gets around this before the blades server is available to all, please post.

Bill,
THis is the only error:
error: failed dependencies:
php = 4.0.4pl1-9 is needed by php-manual-4.0.4pl1-9
The rest are just informational. You've installed the php-manual RPM by hand at some point, and it conflicts with the new version of PHP. You'll have to remove it by hand:
rpm -e php-manual
I've put together an (untested, unsupported) contrib RPM of php-manual without that pesky dependency; it's in
ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/contrib/RichLafferty/RPMS/noarch/
Cheers,
-Rich

Thanks for the info. Your RPM seems to have fixed the problem.
Also, what is php-manual? Is there anything common that will be affected if I remove it?
-
php-manual is the manual for PHP. :-) It's just the documentation; I'd recommend using the annotated manual at php.net instead, as the distributed documentation is occasionally incorrect, and the annotations by others often point that out.
If you need a local copy, though, use mine, as it documents the version of PHP distributed in the updates.
Cheers,

(I dont recall having installed any other updates manunally)
