Title: How to migrate SME server to plain CentOS?
Post by: justafreeman on May 12, 2007, 11:35:11 PM
Hi Guys

Apologies in advance, if this is going to offend people. But I need to re-install an existing SME server with plain CentOS so that it can run some custom software.

So does anyone know if it is possible to migrate an existing SME server to plain CentOS. All we need to retain are user accounts, iBays and maildir.

Thanks!
J

If it is not out of line, what custom software are you needing?

I ask because I have added packages to SME before. Other than falling off the upgrade path for being non-stock, it works OK for me.

I don't really understand what you want to do. SME is a centos, with some additionnal softwares, and everything pre-configured.
You can install what you want on SME, nearly all the centos and rhel4 rpms, it just need sometimes a little more work to integrate it in a clean way (templates etc...)
