Hello,
i want to host my website and therefore i use a dyndns account....
but with the server only version of e-smith this feature is not directly
usable, not like the server&gateway mode....
can someone help me on this one...?
to get to use my dyndns account to host my web site on a server-only mode?
Thanks in advance.
Ben.

I had the same problem.
I am using the DDclient ( Perl ) which is part of the ' clients softwares ' that
are given as to be supported by DynDns.org .
The only thing to do is to be sure that the application is launched after a reboot
of the server. I am not 100% sure ( It's a long time ago... ) but I think I just modified the init.d to start DDclient automatically.
If you need further info, let me know. Will try to answer as soon as possible.

You should use the RPM version ( easier ... ) : check your mail.
I did not test the version 3.6.2 yet, so I suggest you to use the same version
as I am currently using.
I am also newbie, I know that my 'solution' is working, but I am not sure it is the
best way to solve the problem ...
If experts on the forum have other ideas, you are welcome !
Additional info : http://members.rogers.com/ddclient/pub/README
How to :
-Transfer ( Via FTP or Sharing ) the DDClient.3.6.1.(rpm)
in one specific directory i.e. /usr/rpm/ddclient... . rpm
-Install RPM #rpm -i ddclient... .rpm
-Configure the ddclient.conf in /etc
using your DynDns member data
-Modify /etc/rc.d/rc.local, adding following inputs
...
/sbin/chkconfig --add ddclient
/etc/rc.d/init.d/ddclient start
...
-After modification in ddclient.conf ( To enable modifs ) ==> #/etc/ddclient restart
-Check in the server web, 'log view' the messages, filtering with 'ddc'.
you should find traces of the ddclient actions. Also in the admin mail.
