Title: Virtual Domains on SME
Post by: shawnbishop on June 02, 2007, 11:39:29 AM
GooD ay

I am sure this question has been asked before, but cant find the answer, my apologisies.

I have 3 domains that need to be hosted on the server, all the mail comes into this server and then is distributed to the 3 domains. How do i define a username 1 must go to domain A, and user 2 must go to domain B??, this may seem has a problem as I have 3 people named john at the 3 different domains, so mail for john@domain! must therefore go to johan at domain A..and so forth?? ( We cant have the same 3 usernames that are the same, that is what I am trying to get at)??

Anybody have a solution for this??

Regards

Shawn

Use the pseudonyms pannel.
Click on add peseudonym and set that john@domain1.com belongs to john1, john@domain2.com belongs to john2 (john1 and john2 are their accounts).

Good day

If I try to create a pseudonym john@domain1.co.za and assign it to jonh1 under the pseduonym panel it gives me an error
""
The pseudonym should contain only lower-case letters, numbers, period, hyphen and underscore and should start with a lower-case letter or number. For example "sales", "john.holland", "123" and "email-administrator" are all valid pseudonyms, but "John Smith" and "Henry Miller" are not.

You can also create email aliases for accounts and (virtual) domains that are valid on this server. For example "fred@virtualdomain.com" can be forwarded to "mary" (or to another valid user account).""

It is funny as it clearly states in the error what I have done is correct??

Cheers

Ok

I have figured something out a little bit more...

I have a user john created, so under pseudonyms, I create john@domain1.com must go to account john, it then gives me the error., but if I do the following...

create a pseudonym support@domain1.com and point it to john it appears to work, so does this mean the pseudonym name cannot be the same as the account on the local server??

Yes, as you can see from my example you have to use another account name eg. john1 for pseudonym john.
