Title: Transaction Check Error: package kernel-smp-2.6.9-55.EL
Post by: drallan on June 13, 2007, 12:24:36 AM
I am not able to run yum updates with the following error

Transaction Check Error:   package kernel-smp-2.6.9-55.EL (which is newer than kernel-smp-2.6.9-42.0.10.EL) is already installed

Please help - don't know how to get around this. Do I need to downgrade to kernel 2.6.9-42. If so - how ?

This is something to do with getting Centos kernels due to yum mis-configuration:

I didn't see any posts on how to back down the kernel, though...

Maybe you can pick an older kernel at boot time and try to update just the yum package?
