Title: GRUB Hard Disk Error
Post by: dino on June 13, 2007, 12:42:13 AM
Hi,

Yes, I'm a NOOB that is having some trouble with SME7.1.

I currently have 2 SME6.0 servers running, one at home for video/audio networking and one at work for the same.  One runs RAID1 and one doesn't.  Both are running in Server Only mode and are working great.  :D

There is a need for my place of employment to have a FTP site to transfer audio files between external users.  Great, SME is the ticket for this one.

I've put together a PC with a Intel P3 1.4GHz CPU, ASUS MOBO, 384MB RAM... basically some spare parts. The PC has 2, 20GB drives installed hoping to run RAID1.

After I install Version 7.1 from an ISO image on CD and hit <OK> for the reboot and once the PC has rebooted, I receive a GRUB Hard Disk Error.  I've tried a couple of downloads, each MD5 checksums are correct.

I tried loading on just one HD and receive the same error.

For the fun of it, I tried Version 6.0 in RAID1 and all worked well.  Tried to upgrade 6.0 to 7.1 and I get the error again.   :?:

The hard drives...
Western Digital WD200BB
Maxtor 6L020J1

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Is this error a simple fix?  Any info would be helpful.

Thanks

This is a problem with the hardware configuration on SME7 and belongs to the bugtracker under bugs.
