Hello all,
My SME v5 server works great (web/email) except for the following problem.
I made an ibay, and granted ftp access and read access to everyone. I want to get into it with a web browser via: ftp://ibayname@myhost.com
I expect to get a login prompt, then a file listing, but I don't.
When I do this my browser gets the little "waving flashlight" icon for about 30 seconds and then the following error dialog:
An error occured reading the contents of the folder. Make sure the file name is valid and you have permission to access the location specified. Details: The operation timed out.
Any Ideas? I'm stumped.

Hi, Im doing the same as you, but I am not having that problem
did you give it public access to the i-bay? or you settings are "none"?
Hugo.

I got it working, thanks. I hadn't enabled ftp access on the server. I assumed that enabling the ibay would turn on ftp access. One odd thing I'm noticing, though, is that the login security is strange.
If I create an Ibay, say, "test", and give it a password of 1234, I can ONLY log in as user test/1234.
Here's why this is odd:
1- there isn't any "user" named test
2- I set up a group and assigned it to the ibay, but the group's users are ignored.
the ibayname/ibaypassword are still all that are accepted in the popup dialog.
It's still a good interface though. In general I like it.

That is the correct bahaviour of sme, the ibayname is the logon name for ftp.
You can also ftp to users home folders with username/userpassword, and you can upload as well as download eg ftp://username@ftp.myhost.com.
