Title: Reboot after Yum update
Post by: EnglishRob on July 01, 2007, 01:54:49 AM
Hi folks,

I've been using SME Server 7 for a while now.  One thing that I have always wondered is, why after doing a yum update does the SME Server need rebooting?

I can understand the signal-event post-upgrade command, I assume this is for the server to expand the configuration files, but is a reboot really needed?

Just wondering as I think my server has automatic updates enabled but I very rarely reboot it (not to mention I only run signal-event post-upgrade and signal-event reboot after manually running yum and installing any updates or new packages).
