Title: Hot Mail sending problems
Post by: Strangelite on July 03, 2007, 05:39:34 PM
I'm Running Sme Server behind a firewall - mainly to provide email and a bit of shared file space.
All is fine apart from email to hotmail accounts
I think this is because I have a 192.168.x.x address for the SME server - which hotmail is rejecting.
what is the best way of getting the sytesm to belive that I am who I am.

Try this first.
In the email configuration panel in server manager, enter your ISP's mail server (to send mail via).

You will need to do as Ray suggested because if you are using a Dynamic IP address for your internet connection Hotmail will reject the mail.

I tried a number of things to get around this as I have my domain registered and have the proper DNS settings and everything, but Hotmail would always reject it. Thus I had to use my ISP mail server to pass the mail through.
