Title: Vacation auto-reply user and group problem
Post by: mauro on July 04, 2007, 08:55:02 PM
Hi all,
   I have a problem with vacation-autoreply (smeserver-vacation-1.0-12 from dungog).
If one user is part of a group, when he's out of office this contrib sends auto-replies also to the emails addressed to the group; I would like to have auto-replies sent only for the emails addressed to single users.
Is it possible? Or, better, shouldn't be already like this and I have some sort of misconfiguration here?

Thanks

Hi Mauro!

One thing I thought of here, is that when the autoreply replies to the 'group' in question as well, and that the autoreplier is a part of that group, would the autoreplier get the email autoreply, and then autoreply to it?  Heheheh...

A solution I implement, 'just in case', is to UNGROUP anybody who goes on holidays so that they don't accidentally autoreply to themselves when autoreplying a group.

Does that make sense?

cheers!
Francis

Hi Francis,
the autoreply message you receive is sent from the real user, not in the name of the group, so the problem you foresee should not occour (if I understood your point). Moreover, the autoreplies are always sent one each X days, and the purpose of this is (also) to avoid that two email systems end up in an endless autoreply loop...

I found a way to have the vacation message sent as I wish with the help of Dungog guys when I posted this question in bugzilla, you can have a look at bug # 3148 (even though it's not a real bug).

Bye!
