Have looked on all the download mirror links and they do not appear to have the ISO or MD5SUM for this latest update release the ones listed all appear to be for a release in Dec last year or Jan this year .... so where does one download them?

The starting point for just about everything to do with sme is
http://wiki.contribs.org/Main_Page
Then select the Download link which brings you to
http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Download
Then select eg the ibiblio mirror
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/releases/7/iso/
You will only see a 7.1 iso as that is the latest final stable CD release
smeserver-7.1.iso
smeserver-7.1.iso.md5sum
Note that 7.2 is a test release & is available here
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/releases/testing/7.2rc3/
Please read the important notes in the wiki FAQ about updating CD releases here, which WILL apply to a 7.1 CD install.
http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:FAQ#Yum_Updates
especially this
Warning:
If upgrading from a system prior to 7.1 update 1, ie a 7.1 CD install or earlier,
you need to ensure you have the latest versions of the following rpms prior to applying the rest of the updates. This speeds up install process and avoids updates from centos that may be ahead of the distribution.
yum update smeserver-support smeserver-yum yum yum-plugin-fastest-mirror python-sqlite
signal-event post-upgrade; signal-event reboot
Then update your sme 7.1 release using yum either via server manager Software Installer panel and ensure you select the Reconfigure option afterwards
or
via command prompt
yum update
signal-event post-upgrade
reboot
At the end of it all these are the repositories you should have enabled.
