I have a HP Netserver LX Pro with a Adaptec aic-7880 controler card and when I install SME 7.1 server it says HHD not installed, and directs me to install drivers. I know the raid is correct cause I can install redhat 8.0, mandrake 8.0, sles 8.0. But i want to run SME Server. What could be the problem?

That's because there is a bug in 7.0 and 7.1 seeing the drives for some reason. 6.5 see them fine. RedHat 8.0 and SLES and Mandrake and numerous other os's see the drives but not sme 7.0 or 7.1

Tried SME 7.2 rc4 same issue. Is there a bad driver being used in the compilation of SME 7?

Several SCSI drivers were removed in the 2.6.X kernel version. They were considered too old. Check the centos 4 hardware compatability list to see if your hardware is supported. You can check here: http://wiki.centos.org/HardwareList
One solution is to use vmware. I am using it on my test server which has a perc raid controller that is no longer supported.

I got SME 6.5rc1 loaded. Wanted to expand out to the capacity of my server of 12 - 18 Gb HDD's and 6.5 allowed me too. Been runnin SME 5.6 so it's a step up. All I do is file serve, print serve and host web pages. It works for me... 156 Gb's is quite a step up from 16... I was running 3 - 9.2 Gb drives for a long time so this upgrade will keep me going. I was hopin to keep current with SME, I really like the ease of it's server-manager. If there is another distro out there with that kind of management, I'll try it. Reason I'm staying with my HP Netserver LX Pro is because I have three of them. I don't think I'll have an issue of parts...LOL
