Title: not able to create users URGENT

I am  not able to create users in sme 7.1.3 it gives me the following error

"Operation status report
An error occurred creating the user."

i also tried creating it thru lazy admin tools, but the same.

"lat-users -a -p sfl -c sjain
Creating user account for sjain (Uid:11620).
An error occurred while creating account 'sjain'."

i also tried deleting this users but ...

same error

thru lazy admin tool....

"lat-users -d -c sjain
Do you want to delete user 'sjain'?
All files belonging to this user account will be deleted! [yes/NO/all] yes
Deleting user account 'sjain'.
The group '*' does not exist on this server."

THIS HAPPENED SUDDENLY KINDLY LET ME KNOW WHAT TO DO

THIS IS VERY URGENT

Please report bugs and potential bugs in the bug tracker. Also Please state your server history in the bug report and if you have any additional contribs/custom-templates

Just used LAT with 7.2 yesterday.

 8)

As ever, LAT is a great system.  We added 2000 users to a server with little effort.

yes it is a great tool, but it must not be used without knowledge..

I had issues with àèéç in the names and with groups which should have had the same name as the users (one group "toscana" had to have users  a,b,c,d,toscana) and I didn't know that it wasn't possible.

yes it is a great tool,

i added 6000 users but now facing some problems. this users are not able to change their password using the user-password link.

  What error message do they get?  Is there an error in the /var/log/messages log file?

they get a message that the old password they have type is wrong, while they are using the password to check their mails

and no error in mess. log

Swapnil,

  There should be an error in the message log when they try to change their passwords.  This message will be critical to finding the problem.
