Title: sme7admin CPU hog?
Post by: judgej on July 28, 2007, 11:05:08 AM
Anyone come across sme7admin being a CPU and disk hog, in particular after the latest update to SME Server 7.2.0?

I noticed for about 60% of the time, my hard drive is active and the CPU is up at 100%. sme7admin regularly starts up a process that *appears* to be the culprit:

/usr/bin/du -sb /var/log /var/spool/squid /var/lib/mysql /home/e-smith/files

If I kill that process while it is running, the the disk and CPU settles back down. It takes a few minutes to run each time, and when it completes, the CPU drops, but it is started up again within a minute and it all starts again.

[I've uninstalled the contrib for now, which has fixed the problem. I couldn't find sme7admin in the bug tracker to raise a bug, and I couldn't find the latest updates or details of the yum update in any of the documentation, so this was the only quick course of action left for me.]

You should open a bug on this.

I have this running on a few boxes round the place. Whilst not being perfect, havent found it to be a CPU or Disk hogg.

I thought there was (or used to be) a bug tracker for it. Having said that, the developer did indicate in that thread that he did not have the time to resolve issue or update it.

You need to disable the "-s" option in the configuration panel of sme7admin. This will solve your problem
