Hi All
I am just taking my first steps with SAIL so please forgive me if my problem is basic
I have installed SAIL 2.1.14-347 on my test SME 7.2 test rig. All went well and using the excellent documentation set up a couple of soft phone extensions and a SIP trunk to create a very basic system for testing.
I can now make extension to extension calls and extension to PSTN calls with one small problem...no speech from either end and the calls are dropped after approx 20 secs!
I can call *56* and hear my extension number read back to me and I can call *52* and enter the echo test but do not hear the echo (I do get the voice prompts). I can see the microphone level meter on the softphone registering audio but the speaker level shows nothing.
Anyway any hints/pointers would be appreciated.
Cheers

Ah... I think that the version you have installed is the "stable version". It will not run on 7.2. You should install:
selintra-sail-2.1.14-455
smeserver-asterisk-1.2.10-5
smeserver-asterisk-zappri-MPP-1.2.6-5
sme-ast-en-uk-gpl-sounds-1.0.0-2
You will find them in the pre-release folder.
Also, read the latest documentation at Selintra.

Hi Chris, Thanks for your reply.
I had installed the stable version, so if this is incompatable with SME 7.2 then I guess thats my problem :o
I tried to install the versions you suggested but the version of SAIL reported in the server-manager refused to change. Messed around for awhile before deciding it would be probably better to start with a fresh install.
Once this is done I will install the devlopment version and try again.
Cheers

When upgrading, once all of your rpms are installed, you must run console-save...
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save
You can also remove all Asterisk and Sail rpms (do rpm -e >package> ) and reinstall , it will not harm. No need to reinstall the server.
You can check what asterisk is doing by typing asterisk -rvvv at the command line as root. Then type help for menu.
Also, pay attention to codecs used by sip phone extensions and trunks.
Ensure they are all consistent, i.e. all gsm, or all g729 unless you install the g729 codec from Digium, or the free (evaluation) version. For example, one phone set to g729 will not communicate with another phone set for uLaw unless you have the Digium codec to do the translation.
Hope it helps.

Thanks again, Chris. All good advice.
Reloaded my SME box, having trouble with updates at present so left it at 7.0. Installed rpm's as per your firt post. Added an extension, sip trunk and a route and was able to call out to the PSTN :D
Now I just need to get my X100P cards setup, but thats a job for tomorrow!

Good news!
If you are having problem with updates, you should file a bug report at Bugzilla.
Note that Bugzilla is not a support forum. However, you inoput when having issues with things like updates is vital to ensure the distro remain stable.
Thanks

Hi Burnat,
I am still running the following rpms:
selintra-sail-2.1.14-339.noarch.rpm
smeserver-asterisk-1.2.10-3.i686.rpm
smeserver-asterisk-zappri-MPP-1.2.6-1.i686.rpm
smeserver-asterisk-sounds-1.2.2-2.noarch.rpm
Does this mean I will not be able to update my server without changinging to "pre-release" SAIL/Asterisk rpms? My setup works like a dream and I don't really want to change anything and I am reluctant to use a version that is designated as Pre-Release, rather than stable

Del,
My undertanding is that for 7.2 and the new kernels you should move to latest release. (Jeff, please correct me if I am on a wrong path...)
I am using:
selintra-sail-2.1.14-455
smeserver-asterisk-1.2.10-5
smeserver-asterisk-zappri-MPP-1.2.6-5
sme-ast-en-uk-gpl-sounds-1.0.0-2---Give it a miss if you are using other voices
(whilst I have to say, the English/UK version is really classy... anyone calling our office think they have arrived at No10)
There already is another version out (505), I have not yet tested this one., so cannot comment. However, my experience is that Selintra is very conservative about "stable version" . 455 and the new asterisk rpms represent a vaste improvement on what you are running now. If you have the ability to upgrade (follow the latest guide on the install page at Selintra, no big drama), go for it. Its rock solid.
Hope it helps.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the info, I am supposed to be building a better server so may be it is time I got my finger out and did it and upgraded the SAIL/Asterisk rpms.
(whilst I have to say, the English/UK version is really classy... anyone calling our office think they have arrived at No10)
I like this quote LOL, my mate in the UK uses the UK english sounds are I thought I had gotten through to Hugh Grant :D Actually there should be no such thing as UK english, because that is English, the rest of the English speaking world just "Borrowed" it :D What I would like to see is a Scottish sounds pack, real Glaswegian like Sir Alex Ferguson speaks :D Anyhow I have gone off on a tangent, sorry. Thanks again for the help.

We're working on an Ozzie Osbourne version - lots of stuttering interspersed with swear words.
We think it'll be a winner
