Post by: Pavel Z on March 18, 2002, 02:33:00 PM
Hi can you tell me how I can use external ISDN adapters with e-smith 5.1. I have configured classic dial-up that can works with classic V90 modems but not with ISDN. Do you know why does not work ?? reply to isp@backer.cz Thanks

If it is a standard hardware base external TA it should work fine - If it's one of the few software 'Winmodem' type you may have a very hard time of it.

On the basis that it's a standard hardware enabled one, you should be able to plug into the serial port, make sure you have the correct AT commands set and away you go.

It all depends on the type.

Have a search through the forums for ISDN - there are plenty of threads on the subject.

Hi,

for ISDN dial-up connection I use externel router (Zyxel Prestige).

I install an extra ethernet card in SME server, with static IP, then connect to the router.

This solution is more expensive than a ISDN TA, but works fine and have  some plus, like hour control, budget, filter, ecc. .
