Title: Second SMEon Wireless
Post by: p-jones on August 06, 2007, 11:15:02 AM
I have a wireless access on my internal network setup very conventionally with WPA-TPIK

I want to add a second server only to my network, use a compatible wireless card and shove it in a closet.

Is there a way to get it to authenticate to the access point with the same access code the workstations use to access the wireless or will I have to fully reconfigure my wireless ?

I have searched the forums and whilst finding plenty on wireless, I cannot find this specific scenario. Maybe I missed it ??

Thanks
P

Wouldn't it be easier to connect a wireless router and make SME Server aware that there is another router with a different subnet that is a local network? SME Server had no build in wireless authentification options AFAIK, a proper wireless router certainly has.

Cactus, It may come down to something like that. I would probably just run a cable through the floor back to the switch.

I thought I would ask anyway in case someone had come up with something clever or had a perspective that I hadnt considered. Thanks for the suggestion.

hi,

i have a similar network and i have turned wireless router dhcp server off and plugged SME on to the router and all workstations receive dhcp from the server.

would it not be a more practical solution?
