I sorted this by doing
rpm -Uvh http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/releases/7/smeos/i38
6/SME/RPMS/fontconfig-2.2.3-7.centos4.i386.rpm

I found the path in the update to be wrong but the above sorted it for me on a few systems.

No, the repository paths have changed and the cache data on your server is outdated.  Did you follow the instructions here?:

From 7.0 through 7.1.2 to 7.2 yum update proceedures http://wiki.contribs.org/Updating_to_SME_7.2#Yum_Update

From 7.1.3 to 7.2 yum update proceedures http://wiki.contribs.org/Updating_to_SME_7.2#Yum_Update_2

I have 7.1.3

First I do

Quote
rpm -Uvh http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/releases/7/smeos/i38
6/SME/RPMS/fontconfig-2.2.3-7.centos4.i386.rpm

Then I do

cd /home/e-smith/db/
mv yum_repositories yum_repositories.po
/etc/e-smith/events/actions/initialize-default-databases
expand-template /etc/yum.conf

then

yum clean all
yum update

After download all I receive the following error.

warning: rpmts_HdrFromFdno: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 217521f6

Public key for perl-File-MMagic-1.27-2.el4.noarch.rpm is not installed
================================================================
No new rpms were installed. No additional commands are required.
