I have an SME Server7.0 all updates with an ibay set up for "everyone"
In it is a bunch of pdf files etc.
Our local network users can access no problem (10.58.48.X)
Our remotes can't (10.58.49.X / 10.58.50.X)
However, the remotes can access this servers server-manager etc, can ping etc.
I have tried about everything I can think of, adding to it the other networks as local etc.
We have another server with some other shares at same location as the SME Server, with shares in the following format and the remotes can access them:
\\Alpdc2003\3rd_party\Honey Bee Swathers 2004\index.html
The shares on the SME Server look like this:
\\Saserver-1\sadata\Disk 1 of 1 - Utility Vehicles\toc-uv.pdf
Any assistance appreciated.

Have you tried ping'ing your host name as I had this only the other day and I found out the for some reason when I changed the IP Subnet our VPN clients could not access any shares, I found out ping'in host name was responding to my router so I added the correct IP and hostname to the Windows XP Hosts file and when ping'in I could now see it contacting the correct IP.

Yeah, that is what's up.
I can not ping the host name, however can ping the IP.
I changed the hyperlinks, to use the IP, instead of host name, seems to work.
Thanks ,

If you edit your windows XP "hosts" file to have the correct IP pointing to the correct host name then you can go back to mapping drives via host names.

Hi Byte,
A work around for sure, but a handfull, on 130 computers, over 3 locations.
