Title: mail problems
Post by: elgoth2003 on August 23, 2007, 04:09:39 AM
Some of my users have complained about that they can't email to an AOL account and other parish school accounts.  Has anyone heard of this problem??

Be more specific...

"Can't email to", What exactly does that mean?
"other parish school accounts", Are you saying other accounts in the same domain and/or server or just other outside accounts in general?

Tell us what the users are doing (including what OS and client software they use), what is happening and what the users expect to happen.

What version of SME?
Do the logs show anything?
Are the emails getting bounced?
If so, what do the bounces say?

There are many reasons this could be happening. You need to get your users to provide any messages they receive to indicate the reason for not being able to send, and also look at your log files eg qmail, qpmstpd etc.

Common reasons are:
the domain doesn't have a SPF record,
the servers IP is blacklisted on spam lists, in that case try setting your ISP's mail server in the Email panel "Address of Internet provider's mail server" field.
